North State Supply was founded in 1950 by Mr. Kelly Gwin located in Flushing, NY. Our focus, from the beginning, was servicing construction companies and their job sites in a manner above and beyond the industry standard. In the years following, North State expanded and established itself as an industry leader, providing pipeline construction equipment, agricultural supply, industrial and construction supplies, utility, mining, gas drilling and distribution, agricultural, power plant construction and maintenance, to a variety of contractors throughout the Eastern United States.
In 1974 North State opened a branch in Indiana, PA to primarily service the booming power plant construction, interstate highway construction, and natural gas drilling industries in Western Pennsylvania. In 1977, Mr. Dan Birnley became manager of the Pennsylvania branch and the operation moved to its' current location in Homer City. Mr. Birnley managed this branch until 1988 when he and his wife, Jennifer, purchased the Homer City operation. Under Mr. Birnley's leadership, North State continued to grow and now provides service to construction, industrial, utility, mining, gas drilling and distribution, agricultural, power plant, pipeline construction, and other specialty trades and contractors.
With over 50 years experience providing contractors with tools, equipment, and supplies, North State has developed strong relationships with thousands of vendors.
